Just recently, I finished watching the HBO series Vinyl. It is about a struggling, fictitious early 70’s record company about to be sold by its owner, character Richie Finestra. He ultimately decides not to sell because he essentially found a band with a sound that he believes was going to change music. In the fictitious Finestra’s opinion, the music scene had lost its way, was disingenuous, had lost its soul and excitement, and that it had to get back to how the music made people feel. Sound familiar?

In recent years, some famous entertainers have proclaimed that, “Rock and Roll is Dead.” That is not necessarily true and if anything, Rock music is flourishing all over the World, with exciting, quality, and fresh music that is satiating the internet. The problem is, often times it’s just a matter of finding it. One group which has been bringing a frenetic excitement and passion back to Rock and Roll is the group Them Vibes. There is a real possibility that you may have heard there music before and did not even know it.

Formed in the East Nashville’s underground rock scene in 2013 by Lead Singer Brother Love and Guitarist Alex Haddad, the band has turned heads with their high energy, passionate, sonic frontal assault which has left fans flabbergasted and astounded by their live shows. About the fact that you may have heard them before; the band’s music has be heard on such popular TV shows Nashville, the song “Hit N’ Run” on Grimm, and raw burner “I Kinda Like It” on Fox’s Cooper Barrett’s: Guide to Life.

On the strength of their first album Shine On, Them Vibes sound foundationally could be imagined as a Classic/Southern/Bar Band Rock mix initially. Yet, there’s more going on here to scratch a rock fans itch. It’s on the second release; EP TV that the band brings its dirty & sexy rock swagger. From the Stones/Beatles dirge dirty rock meets trippy harmonies “Momma’s Got a Secret”, meandering and slow rolling guitar “You Get Me”, scratchy and rollicking Jaggeresque vocals “Hit N’ Run”, the tight hard hitting “I Kind of Like It”, and slow aching tome “Gone With the Wind” hits the emotional well. Though the Rolling Stones influence is obvious throughout their music, Them Vibes definitely have their own unique sound and energy.

Fronted by Lead Singer Brother Love, he is a frenetic, springloaded, enthralling, whirling dervish of a lead man that enthralls and visually assaults a crowd with his performance. Fellow founding member Alex Haddad is one heck of a killer slide player which is highlighted on his work on the song “Crying Shame”. Lead Guitarist and Keys Kyle Lewis’ muscular and thrilling guitar work satiates guitar slinger fans thirst but has a deft finger picking touch on their composition “Lorelei”. And let us not forget the rhythmic foundational work that shakes out the thunder of drummer Sarah Tomek and bassist Tim Braisted.

Those Vibes have tapped into something missing in Rock and Roll...Excitement. With high energy shows, a captivating front man in Brother Love with killer voice and an entertaining stage presence, a talented and riveting band that brings the music as it should be to the masses; loud, sexy, grooving, and nasty. Them Vibes are the real deal.

Show them some love on their official site, Facebook, and Twitter!

About Hunter: Hunter is a freelance music writer that concentrates on finding outstanding, unsigned, unknown and under appreciated bands from around the world and unabashedly wields them onto the unsuspecting and the great unwashed. His work has appeared on music sites kilScene (NYC/Brooklyn), Mother Church Pew (NYC), and East of Eighth (Nashville). One of his writings has even been shared and press quoted by a Grammy Nominated artist (Do the Grammy's even matter anymore?!) After a particularly difficult and surreal week of work about five years ago Hunter decided to search the dark, dusty corners and obscure underbelly of the Internet. It was after hearing one of the same 30 songs that a so called "New Rock" radio station played yet again on his way home. That is what started him n his quixotic quest. Since then through many seasons of bleeding ears, anguish, and many neurotic episodes, he has learned well how to hone the power of the Internet in his search. Along with that, he has a vast array of concerts and music rouges throughout the US and around the world, and his goal is to find some of the most unique, fresh, and kick you in the ear hole artists and bands. 1. Never heard of this band before but I love their raw sound. Fits perfectly into the type of music I enjoy. I really like their song Crying Shame
