So here’s the deal. There’s not much info about them. No website, bare bones basics on the usual suspect sites of social media, and a whole lot of obscure straight talk. One solitary interview conducted with them from a Nashville music blog. Two brothers jamming thinking it was about time to start a band because that is what was expected, and the adding of a friend because, Dan’s a quick learner so from there really.” There are no last names, you barely know that they’re from London; Hell...You don’t even know who plays what instrument or who is the lead singer. To be totally honest, I don’t know if these guys are purposely being ironically coy or if they are so legitimately amateur that they don’t know any better. The sheer talent and strength of these songs are amazing.

Eight unbelievably great songs wrapped in an enigma. And to top it all off, a few interesting things; it was recorded in 3 days, on 2 inch tape, One Month after they started jamming! You read that correctly, they recorded this album one month after forming. I mean Sweet Caesar’s Ghost, these fuckers have laid down a fresh, unique and quality product in one month that some bands that have been together for years will never be able to create. And you want the bands simple explanation for their sound? Night time driving rock.

Just to give you a basic idea of their sound, if that’s possible, imagine if you will the drop D chord of grunge, the sludge and echoes of desert rock, Dick Dale surf rock meeting the garage shriek of the Sonics, wrapped up nicely with the foreboding gloom fuzz of Tommy Iommi. There are moments of clear and solid southern blues rock with a fuzz bridge that would make Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age proud, as in the song “Along Came the Shadows”, that just happens to end with a Sonicsesque 60’s garage band urgency. However, and I have to make this totally clear, the recording doesn’t sound dated or nostalgic but presently urgent. It is urgent in the way that you have to scratch an itch. After this album concludes, you just want more.

That’s it...Total Enigmas, Unbelievable First Album. Hell, you’re lucky we even have a picture of them. But this album is solid, especially with the knowledge that it was recorded a month after their formation. I’m going to keep my ear to the grapevine on this band. I’ll let you know more as soon as I know more. Until then, enjoy this amazing first effort.

About Hunter: Hunter is a freelance music writer that concentrates on finding outstanding, unsigned, unknown and under appreciated bands from around the world and unabashedly wields them onto the unsuspecting and the great unwashed. His work has appeared on music sites kilScene (NYC/Brooklyn), Mother Church Pew (NYC), and East of Eighth (Nashville). One of his writings has even been shared and press quoted by a Grammy Nominated artist (Do the Grammy's even matter anymore?!) After a particularly difficult and surreal week of work about five years ago Hunter decided to search the dark, dusty corners and obscure underbelly of the Internet. It was after hearing one of the same 30 songs that a so called "New Rock" radio station played yet again on his way home. That is what started him n his quixotic quest. Since then through many seasons of bleeding ears, anguish, and many neurotic episodes, he has learned well how to hone the power of the Internet in his search. Along with that, he has a vast array of concerts and music rouges throughout the US and around the world, and his goal is to find some of the most unique, fresh, and kick you in the ear hole artists and bands.
