Fresh Pick #1:
Who: The Shelters
What: Indie pop with a vintage edge
Why: The band announced that their debut EP (co-produced by Tom Petty) would officially drop June 10th.The album is one that fits in several different eras of rock and roll and is laced with old school swagger. The band is currently on tour and their routing has them on a healthy two month leg that is spanning from west to east coast and everywhere in between. See their tour dates here
Fresh Pick #2:
Who: Elohim
What: Electro pop
Why: The talent behind Elohim is a mystery. The talented electro pop siren not only wears masks but she also is photographed with her hair over her face in order to keep her identity under wraps. She even uses text to speech software for interviews! In case you were wondering, Elohim is Hebrew for God and she has said in interviews Elohim "is very empowering, especially as a woman in art." Don't let the whole secret identity thing turn you off to her music though. She has released a total of four singles last year and has racked up 2.5 million plays on Spotify and Soundcloud alone. Her songs are mood shifting and mysterious from the lyrics right down to the production techniques. Elohim has an EP that is set for release in late spring or early summer.
Fresh Pick #3:
Who: Johnson and McAuley
What: Pop, Electro, New Wave
Why: Bleu McAuley and Alexz Johnson both have pretty impress resumes. Bleu has produced and corwritten songs for the Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato and other and Alexz has her own successful career as a singer/songwriter/actress in her own right. The duo were inspired to start a band after hearing Rome's 1988 hit "The Promise" on the radio and decided to cover it. Afterwards the band started writing original material and the rest of the album came together rather quickly. The sleek synths, the machine beat and their harmonies will have you falling in love!
